imageWeaver CMS is very nearly finished. I need alpha bug testers. Any help you give here will be discounted when the final version is released for sale.
you can download the file from : http://www.buggedcom.co.uk/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=22
If you have any suggestions, ideas or comments either good or bad you can post them here. _________________ ~buggedcom

|

Hi Oliver
Thanks for a wonderful product - just getting my head around v2 implementaion at the moment.
I have a client who is interested in a gallery system and Imageweaver 2 has most of what I would require witha bit of modification.
What are the capabilities of the CMS you are building - in particular -
1. Will it be possible for people to have access only to certain parts of the gallery (or galleries) (i.e. a secure login to one category of images.
2. Will you be able to modify the order of images or are they displayed as they are uploaded?
3. Is is possible to assign a category to an image in the CMS (i.e. fashion or cars) and then limit results in the front end to particular categories of images?
4. Does the CMS support auto thumbnail generation using GD (or an equivalent)
Thanks
What is the release date? How much do you intend charging for it?
btw - the link in your post does not work (The file you selected does not exist.)
Best regards

Hi dodyk.
Thanks. Below are the rough features of the first working release of the CMS scheduled for a 2-3 weeks weeks.
- based on the filesystem (mysql will be added later)
- file security abstraction layer
-- Encrypted Urls with additional Digital ID - NEW
- full installer
- two user accounts, developer, client (although multi user mysql based CMS will shortly follow the first release and be provided as a free update)
------ client has limited functionality based on installer settings
------ developer has full access, inc developer panel change configs, connects to imageWeaver Server for help files, updates etc etc
- multiple upload types
------ standard upload form
------ ftp folder
------ java applet (installed only when i can afford the license fee)
- logging
------ action log to file
------ hack attempt log to file
- gzip downloading of groups / galleries / files (dependent on php libraries installed)
- free space check and warning system
- attribute presets
- additional imageWeaver Flash components
------ iW.Stats for statistical gallery analysis (available only when purchasing the CMS)
------ iW.Comment for user comments (freesource)
------ more to come
- template system based on the PHP Smarty engine
- multi lingual support
1) in the first release of imageWeaver CMS there will only be two accounts setup as the first release is based on the filesystem. However once the first release it on sale i will feverishly work to get the mysql end working which will support multi user accounts, limited options, galleries etc.
2) Yes you will be able to order and reorder the images, galleries and groups. However again this might only be added onto the mysql end depending on current time restraints for the latest release.
3) imageWeaver 2.x.x does now have an iW.Search Component which is not yet supplied in the current download, however it will be shortly available. It searches a keyword node for keywords and builds a object db within flash and searchs that for results. If you want, it can also search through the iW.Info description fields and iW.Title fields looking for keywords. It is only a basic search engine though and the option field searches are very processor intensive for slower computers. When the mysql is added to the CMS however a search db will be added to the database and a better more efficient search component will be included. (I think this answers your questions - however if i haven't hit it on the head or it's not quite the functionalit you are looking for let me know because i am always looking to extend and better imageWeaver)
4) Yes the CMS supports dynamic thumbnail generation. It thumbnails each image on upload to specific max width and max height settings that are set in the installer.
As for the release date, it depends on how much further I go with it. The basic CMS is functioning at the moment, albitly with a few bugs that i am correcting, however i do want the first relase to be killer so i'm very tempted to go above and beyond the needs that are required, but as i estimated above the finished beta will be done in two to three weeks (not including the mysql support)
The price system is also tba, as i am yet to decide on the types of licensing to add to it. it might be like vbulletin as a yearly subscription which would include free updates, or a one of fee to own the license but doesn't inlcude free updates. Also there will be various pricing structures based on the type of site it is going to... (The prices are just very rough estimates as i haven't really worked it out yet, so nothing is final)
Unlimited Site License; (TBA)
(not sure about this one)
Useable across different domains, unlimited setup help
Commercial Site License; (£100-£250)
For sites with commercial properties. Useable on one domain only, unlimited setup help. Additional licenses would be able to be purchased at a cheaper rate.
Private Site License; (£50-£125)
For sites with no commercial properties. Useable on one domain only, and limited setup help
Developer License; (Free)
For educational purposes or evaluation. It is useable on multiple domains but has an expiry period of 2 weeks. Minimal support is given. It is not to be used for any purposes other than evaluation _________________ ~buggedcom

I don't know if this is a bug but when I try to install the CMS I get this message when I press the continue button on the welcome screen:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: gd_info() in /Users/jblenda/Sites/jette/admin/CMS/install/index.php on line 146
And also I want to let you know that the continue button on the "select a language" screen doesn't work with IExplorer 5.2 on Mac [/b] |

Cheers. There seems to be a lot of bugs mainly to do with the templates so i'm doing a template rewrite with 100% css layout for better compatibility.
also doing a cor code rewrite as it seems some of the code is platform dependant. actually its a bloody windows thing. goddam that microsoft.
Thanks again. _________________ ~buggedcom

Sure download it in the downloads link. The beta is more of an alpha as there are lots of platform dependant issues that have been raised as well as some cross browser bugs. but feel free to download anyway.

Any chance this will be up and running soon? You have a customer right here....
Seriously- this is ideal for a few commercial projects I have underway. |

Erm, I will hopefully have an alpha version by the end of the week.
It will be lacking in certain features though.
Price still undecided, but the attached spreadsheet gives a rough estimate. It will change however but prices will stay roughly the same. _________________ ~buggedcom
